Blogmas Announcement

Merry Christmas!

In fairness, it’s been Christmas in my house for several weeks. We’ve started our own festive Spotify playlist, I’ve written my Christmas list, my son and I have cuddled up on the sofa and watched The Snowman (he was very confused by the presence of David Bowie) and we have put our lights up. Next step, the tree. We all need some extra seasonal cheer in our lives this year – winter lockdown is rough. With this in mind, I’ve decided to get stuck into Blogmas 🎉🎄

I’ve never joined in before but I thought it would be a nice way to round off the insanity of 2020. From what I see from looking at other people’s versions in previous years, you can either aim for a post a day for Advent or else a post for each of the twelve days of Christmas. I’m taking my usual ‘let’s-see-how-we-go’ approach to the experience but I’m hoping for some Christmassy Top 10s, Christmas book reviews and general festive fun. As with Christmas pantomimes, audience participation is warmly encouraged!

Here are some Blooms ideas that I have so far – these serve as both suggestions for any other bloggers looking for inspiration as well as an invitation for more ideas!

Top Ten Books to Give As Gifts – While I love receiving books as gifts, it’s not always easy to get this one right. What books are your reliable ‘go-tos’ for presents?

12 Days of Christmas Book Tag – originally posted by Lizzie Loves Books

Top Ten Christmas Films – I’m planning on reviewing How Love Actually Ruined Christmas or Colourful Narcotics so I’m also hoping to share some of the Christmas movies that I actually like 😂

Bookish Naughty or Nice Tag – originally posted by Jenniely

Top Ten Christmas Songs – we may be discouraged from singing indoors at the moment but Christmas music is one of my favourite parts of the season

Girl with her Head in a Book’s Knitted Christmas Update – I’m trying to knit our own Christmas decorations at the moment and fingers crossed to share my progress

Top Ten More Christmas Moments in Books – I shared a post on this a few years ago but I definitely have more additions for the list since then

Top Ten Unpopular Bookish Opinions – Because Christmas is so often a time for awkwardness, I can think of no better time than to share thoughts that I have had that don’t seem to chime in with the rest of the blogging community

Top Ten Books of 2020 (vol.2) – this is a continuation of my mid-way review of my 2020 reading. I have a feeling that it will be heavily influenced by the fact that I discovered Outlander over the summer but let’s find out!

The Coffee Book Tag – I don’t drink coffee and I’m not 100% sure I’ll get to this one but it’s on the target list anyway 😊

Bloggish & Bookish Resolutions for 2021 – I’m not sure I’ll have ten of these but it would be definitely be good to try and reorganise my reading. My TBR is currently a small mountain by my side of the bed

Top Ten Christmas Books – what are the best books about Christmas!

And I’m aiming for book reviews on Dickens at ChristmasHow Love Actually Ruined Christmas (it did), Truman Capote’s A Christmas Memory and Dylan Thomas’ A Child’s Christmas in Wales.
