A Brontë a Day – Day 10: The Missing Brontë

Did Emily Brontë really and truly only write one book? I’ve now uncovered two different mystery stories centred around an investigation to uncover Emily Brontë’s mythical second novel. There’s The Case of the Missing Brontë and also Miss Hogg and the Brontë Murders.

I’ve only read the former and thought it was so-so and had a baffling cameo from several characters from Cold Comfort Farm. Anyone out there a fan of the latter? Worth tracking down a copy?
It’s such an intriguing idea, that another Wuthering Heights (or perhaps even something wilder) might be out there, hidden by an anxious Charlotte. The general consensus is that if there ever was a book, Charlotte is more likely to have burned it than anything else.
What’s everyone else’s view – do you believe Emily did indeed write a second book?
I agreed to participate in the #ABrontëADay Challenge during May for the A Walk Around the Brontë Table Facebook group. I will also be sharing posts on my Instagram feed.
